Should you add an llms.txt file?
It's cheap and harmless, but treat it as optional, because no major AI company has said it uses llms.txt.
llms.txt is a proposed Markdown file at /llms.txt that summarizes your site for language models. Fifteen minutes, no downside. Just don't expect it to fix anything on its own. Crawlable pages still matter more.
Do this
- Write a short Markdown summary of your brand and key pages.
- Publish it at /llms.txt.
- Spend the rest of the hour on product page content.
